We are rebranding. Since we have moved more into the content creation space, we felt it was time to better align ourselves with this vision!

What was formerly known as the Deckard, has finally had the wraps pulled off to release Valve's new VR hardware effort. The Steam Frame is a drastic departure from the Valve Index likening it more to Meta's and Pico's most recent efforts. However, there are it's own caveats that may keep current Quest and Pico owners in their headsets for a bit longer.

Hello everyone! It has been been a long time since we have had any updates the website, but that doesn't mean we haven't been making updates on our other socials and avenues. We have recently changed up how we are going to approach doing game first looks. We feel for VR content, it is already hard enough to convey the actual depth and scope of VR games in flat videos made for video. We have been exploring alternate solutions for this and are happy to announce that we have set up a new channel in the RIVAL VR application. We will be doing all of our first looks which we have rebranded to Immersive Scope, videos in stereoscopic 3D that can be viewed in the Meta Quest application HERE or any browser that allows SBS 3D content viewing. We are still playing around with a name change for our content and you can find it under the channel name HeavyBandwidth. We are excited about recording our content in a new way and look forward to your comments on what games you would like to see in the future!

Hitman 3 Year 2 is coming in hot with a lot of goodies, but the most notable of all things currently on the slate for IO Interactive is PCVR support. Currently, if you wanted to live out your days as Agent 47 reincarnate in VR, you would only be able to do so if you owned a PSVR setup. The other glaring caveat to this was you could only control the game with a Dual Shock controller similar to RE7. With this announcement, IOI is pulling out all the stops by bringing VR to PC as well as having full motion control support. In the video you can see a Valve Index and Oculus Rift S being used with their respective Knuckles and Touch Controllers. What a time to be an assassin. You can find the official video announcement HERE.

It is one thing to make a VR mod that allows one to feel more immersed in a game than it is originally played. It is entirely another thing to make a mod that makes a game feel like it was designed for VR from the beginning. In this latest update to the RE2 VR mod, modder Praydog, is blowing collective minds again showing off weapon collision AND effective damage! The anticipation within the community surrounding this mod has already been through the roof as Praydog is bringing this mod to not just RE2, but 3, 7, and Village, but now that hype meter has been raised significantly more. If you want to follow this mods development, check out the Flatscreen To VR Modding Community Discord HERE.

UPDATE 11/28/21: This article has been updated with a First Look video that can be found HERE.
Dyson. Yes, that Dyson, has launched its own VR application to help consumers demo products from the comfort of their own virtual reality headset. Now, I can hear what you're internal monologue is saying while you read this. "Dyson, the vacuum and bathroom air dryer extraordinaire has done it!" We can't believe it either, but here it is for everyone to explore! In all seriousness though, this isn't too far out into the weeds as Amazon deployed a similar practice with Augmented Reality, letting the user place furniture or other items in their home before purchase. With this app landing in the unofficial-official Oculus/Meta Applab, chances are there will be a few users that stumble across it. We'll try it out and let you know.

It appears that Meta has a winner in Resident Evil 4 VR as originally announced in a blog post from 11/23/21. "We’re so grateful for the response to Resident Evil 4 on Quest 2—both from long-time fans getting to revisit Leon’s adventure from a new perspective, and from new fans who are experiencing Capcom’s classic for the first time. Resident Evil 4 has become the fastest-selling app in the history of Quest". They have based this on gross sales in the first week of launch. Along with this announcement came another announcement that The Mercenaries would be making its way into the game as a free update in 2022. For those who could get past the omission of some dialogue and cutscenes from the original game, there looks to be more content in universe for you on the horizon! UPDATE 11/27/21: All 3 watches are listed as out of stock on the official G-Shock website
Well... This is interesting. Watchmaker G-Shock has decided it is their time to throw their hat into the ring with a series of watched dubbed "Virtual World Collection". In this collection, you have 3 different style watches that look like they received some inspiration from a Cyberpunk 2077-esque , semi-dystopian, future world timeline. That surely is not a bad thing and it gives these watches a very in the now vibe. With 3 styles to choose from and 3 different price points of $99.00 for the GA2100VB-1A, $110.00 for the GA700VB-1A, and $140.00 for the GA900VB-1A, there is something for everyone. Boasting one of the most interesting designs while simultaneously being one of the most lackluster reveals of 2021, the HTC Vive has had an uphill battle trying to appeal to a relatively small demographic within a community looking to breakout into in its own right. uploadvr.com get hands on with the device and put it through its paces. Deca; the company behind one of the most controversial headsets, to have not been released, the Deca Gear, has put their current product, the Deca Move on the Holiday sales chopping block. We have not received our unit we have purchased for review yet, but can confirm that the app version of what this product does, did work pretty well in our testing. You'd be forgiven for not knowing what exactly it does though. The Deca Move is an alternative locomotion device for VR games.
There is currently a limited list of Steam games it is compatible with, but it essentially detaches your body movement from the direction your head and arms are facing. A general scenario would be a shooter title where you could continue to walk forward or strafe and turn your head without disrupting your initial momentum. Typically, when moving in VR space, your head and or hands are what determine your direction, but with the Deca Move, the direction of your hips is the determining factor.
It's a neat concept, and as mentioned, did work solely using an Android phone as the tracker, but Deca finds themselves in less than stellar favor within the community given the recently announced redirection of the Deca Gear and its pricing. If you are still interested in supporting Deca, the Move is seeing a 20% discount from it's regular price of $79 if you use code BLACK CYBER20 at checkout HERE.

The long-rumored "Apple Glasses" may be ready for the world stage far sooner than a lot of analysts and fans had been anticipating. If true, the rumored facial interface may be equipped with the M1 SoC along with a secondary less powerful chip to operate the less demanding sensors. Apple throwing its hat in the ring will, by no coincidence, garner more attention for the AR/VR/XR/MR communities alike.
Companies such as Meta have undoubtedly pushed VR more into the general conscience of the average consumer with its Quest and Quest 2 variants. Whether you're a fan of Apple products or not, it is undeniable that their presence will usher in new consumers to the space and help drive competition, which is a win for all interested consumers. macrumors.com recently posted an article with further details if you're looking to find out more.

The Meta/Oculus Quest 2 has been one of if not the best selling Virtual Reality headsets since its launch. The headset has seen a few promotional deals over its lifespan, and that doesn't seem like it will be changing anytime soon as holiday shopping ramps up. From 10/26/21-12/26/21 all qualifying headset purchases of either the 128gb or 256gb models will grant buyers a $50 Game Credit to be used in the Oculus Store.
